No, the summer schools are an adjunct event and independent of the organization of CHI 2023. 

Yes, the summer schools are independent of CHI 2023 and are open for everyone who is interested to learn more from HCI experts in Germany and Europe. 

We have 6 summer schools in total. Check the list of schools here

You can apply to more than one summer school, but would have to give a priority of which summer school you would prefer in which order.

The application procedure is explained in detail under: https://postchisummerschools.uol.de/registration-form/. In short, participants are required to fill the Google form provided before the registration deadline. 

Feb 28th, 2023. However, you can still apply after that date and will get a notification depending on capacity permits.

You should get a notification of acceptance from the summer school organizers by Mar 07, 2023. 

Each summer school will be free of charge. However, participants need to cover accommodation and travel costs by themselves.

No, participants should secure accommodation and travel support on their own. Each summer school will offer one social event organized and paid by the school. 

Depending on the summer school you choose, you may travel using the:

• Train: We advise you to check https://bahn.de to book a train ticket from Hamburg main station (Hamburg HBF) to your destination. 
• FlixBus: You alternatively can book a FlixBus or FlixTrain ticket. 
• Flight: you can check Hamburg airport, or the airports of close cities (e.g., Bremen, Hanover, Copenhagen, etc.) 

The individual summer schools may be able to give out certificates with regard to attendance, efforts and potentially also ECTS points. Please reach out to the specific summer school organizers for more information on this.
